A healthy body rhymes with a neutral pH. If the body’s acidity increases, it’s a sign of poor health. What makes the acidity rise? How to know? What can be done to restore a neutral pH in the body?

The body can not function well without perfect symbiosis between vital organs, cells, good bacteria and its other systems. It is enough that one of them undergoes a dysfunction so that the whole organism is jostled. This will lead to complications and health problems.

What is the rate of acidity and alkalinity?

One of the most common dysfunctions in the human body is its acidity. A normal acidity level is between 7 and 7.5. If this figure goes down, it is because the acidity of the body is increasing. The body needs a balance between acidity and alkalinity (acid-base balance) to ensure its proper functioning. Because some organs need acidity and others of alkalinity to fulfill their functions.

What makes the body acid?

The acidity level may vary depending on several factors, including the consumption of sodas, certain foods of animal origin, lack of oxygen, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, overeating, lack of alkaline foods , free radicals, overwork, intestinal fermentation, etc.

4 signs that your body is too acidic

The rate of acidity in the body is difficult to measure. But some signs do not deceive … Here are the most alarming:

1 – Excessive weight gain

Acidity stimulates the production of insulin, which helps to accumulate fat to store in the body. Too much acid prevents the body from burning calories properly and causes a slowing of the metabolism. That’s why you gain weight, and that’s one of the reasons you can not lose your extra pounds quickly.

2 – Bone fragility

When the acidity increases in the body, it is automatically programmed to cope. The blood then absorbs all the alkaline nutrients from our body, mostly from the bones. We then witness a demineralization of the nails and hair that results in bone fragility that you will not notice with time, during a fracture or when getting older.

3 – Dental sensitivity

Ghislaine Becker, a dental hygienist working in Geneva, says that acidifying foods damage tooth enamel. Saliva is there to reduce the abrasion, but it is not enough. Many foods in our daily lives are acidifying, such as dairy products, some animal proteins, alcoholic beverages, sugars and sweeteners, some cereals, fats and oils … and some fruits like lemon, pineapple and kiwi. Consuming too high a dose could affect the health of your teeth because they directly attack the tooth enamel.
To preserve your oral health, it is advisable to brush your teeth 30 minutes after eating acidic foods.

4 – Sleep disorders

The level of acidity is an important factor in sleep disorders. As we have already mentioned, when your body becomes too acidic, it absorbs all the calcium and other nutrients in the bones. This causes calcium deficiency that is responsible for insomnia, according to the North Dakota Human Nutrition Research Center.

How to restore a neutral pH in the body?

To solve this problem, you have to ban some foods or reduce their consumption and replace them with alkaline foods. These will restore the acid-base balance. Here is the list:

Cauliflower, kale, broccoli, watercress, turnip, Brussels sprouts, celeriac, cucumber, spinach, arugula, soy, tofu, seeds, hazelnuts, raisins, olive oil, linseed, linseed oil etc.

Conversely, limit or avoid eating the following foods:

Animal products, dairy products, canned foods, processed foods, sugars, sodas, alcoholic beverages, etc.
You can also try some natural remedies in addition to changing your diet. Here is an example :

Baking soda and cider vinegar

Mix 1/3 teaspoon of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of organic cider vinegar. Once the foamy chemical reaction is reduced, add a large glass of water to dilute the mixture, and drink in one go.

Baking soda and cider vinegar are two ingredients that cleanse the body of all its toxins. They will act as alkalizers to restore the acid-base balance.
