Fortunately, you do not persist in the illusion that Coca-Cola is good for you. Even people who choose to drink this drink normally know that it is toxic to their health. But did you know that a single can of Coca-Cola can dramatically change the way your body works and weaken your immune system?

Keep reading to learn more about what happens to your body after drinking Coke.

What happens to your body in 10 minutes

Once you have finished your can of Coke, the sugar begins to move throughout your body. Within 10 minutes, the body has completely absorbed the 10 spoons of sugar present in your soda. Thanks to the phosphoric acid in your drink, you do not feel how sweet Coke is, and so you do not vomit.

20 minutes to 45 minutes after drinking

Now, your body is really starting to tackle the chemicals and sugar you have been eating. Your insulin levels peak and try to process the sugar as quickly as possible. This excess sugar is turned into fat, which stays in your body until you burn it. Between 40 and 45 minutes after drinking a can of Coke, your liver starts to absorb all the caffeine from Coca-Cola.

This leads to an increase in your blood sugar level and a temporary increase in energy. The level of dopamine is also high, making you feel happy and excited.

Your body an hour after Coca-Cola

Your calcium, magnesium, and zinc levels drop because of your body’s efforts to get rid of sugar and phosphoric acid through the urine. In addition, you may begin to feel dehydrated. Since Coca-Cola is a diuretic, your body will evacuate water and electrolytes at the same time as it removes Coca-Cola chemicals.

Is it starting to get you upset now? The excitement of sugar and caffeine that you enjoyed just 15 minutes ago has disappeared and your body has no sugar to support a high energy level. This sudden drop in blood sugar and energy can make you irritable, tired, and think you need another can of Coca-Cola.

What does this mean for you?

It’s clear that eating Coca-Cola affects your body in many ways you never thought possible. A can of Coca-Cola is bad enough because it can affect your bodily functions for up to 24 hours. But the real danger comes with the regular consumption of Coca-Cola. If you’re used to drinking Coke even just once a day, it’s incredibly important to stop.

You could see the effects of this food choice for years, even decades to come, and no food or drink is worth it. Rather than switching to Coke Light or other soft drinks, consider making the transition to flavored water or infusions. These two drinks improve your hydration without the negative health effects of Coca-Cola.

Once you’ve gotten rid of Coca-Cola, you should feel more energetic than you’ve been in years.
